Personal Document Sets

I have an idea that Document Sets feature could be a component feature of the local user's folder, called Personal Document Sets that sit alongside the existing Saved Searches folder.

A user can create one or more Personal Document Sets.

Personal Document Sets created by a user and saved in that same user folder location.

The Personal Document Set, like any other document can also be moved/copied around to a different location, or copied, for a team to access.

When a project is complete the Personal Document Set can be disbanded or renamed to be reused for a different task.


Some benefits of a Personal Document Sets folder:

Once created, keeping a personal set of work in progress documents in an east to find location.

Monitoring progress of drawing production by teams

Saving time by keeping files in a local and familiar location

Ease of Accessibility instead of traversing folder trees

Creating a Document Set of PDF files for authorisation.

Distributing the Personal Document Set to persons who would sign the documents.


The Personal Document Sets idea can also include change notifications and management of accessibility [Set security] the same way folders can be subscribed or provide notifications.

Moving a Personal Document Set from the user's workspace to a project folder, it will inherit the security settings, but the creator/user will always maintain full control by default. An administrator can override securities of a Personal Document Set.

Searching for files, when search result is obtained, select documents and save them to Personal Document Set.

A Saved Search can be converted to a Personal Document Set.

Files discovered when searching can have their links copied into a Personal Document Set by the user who searched.
