Include the ability to assign application associations per file or per folder, so that files cannot be opened in the wrong application, or the wrong version of an application. With multiple versions of applications installed, the only way to open a file with the correct application version is to use "open with." This leaves a lot of room for user error. Opening a file in the wrong application , or wrong version of an application can cause data loss. Even with the pop-up warning, it does not prevent users from opening a file in the wrong version.

This functionality already exists (at the document level).
The application can be assigned to a document on the General Tab of the Document Interface. Doing so does not prevent users from using the Open With command, but it will help to ensure that the correct application, or the correct version of an application is used when they double-click on the PW document.
Additionally, a secondary application can also be set in case the user does not have the program associated with the assigned application installed on their PC.
